Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Updated 3/15/2020

Dear Private Prep families,

We know that this is a difficult time for everyone as we navigate the uncharted territory presented to us by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  As part of our Private Prep family, we want to make sure that we are working to at least help ease some of the stress and anxiety as it relates to your children’s academic success.

In the weeks ahead, some schools will remain closed, others will offer online classes, homework will be sent to students, and the curriculum may not be covered as effectively as in a classroom setting. Throughout, we will be here to help with questions and provide additional support.

As a company, we have been monitoring the situation very closely, wanting to ensure that we are doing right by our families, students, and tutors, which is why we quickly made the decision to move exclusively to online tutoring. We have been doing online tutoring with students for many years now and are very comfortable with the Zoom platform, which made our decision a little easier. We are currently finalizing our plans for remote proctoring of our upcoming practice tests. We will keep you posted with our updates in the coming days.

That said, we understand that this is an unexpected adjustment for you and your children. As such, we have decided to reduce the financial burden during this difficult time by offering a 15 percent discount for all tutoring previously arranged to be in person and now moved online. This discount will hold until in-person tutoring can safely be resumed, and will apply beginning Thursday, March 19. We hope that this can help offset some of the disruptions you may be feeling.

We also know that with many schools closed, parents are seeking new ways to keep their children engaged academically. Last April, we acquired The Coding Space, a leading provider of afterschool and summer coding education in New York City. In response to the COVID-19 disruptions, we are offering families virtual Coding Space lessons at a deeply discounted price of $100 per hour. Working one-on-one, teachers are able to instruct students with a range of abilities: from complete beginners to students already building applications in JavaScript and Python. For more information please contact admissions@thecodingspace.com.

If there is anything further you would like for us to consider during this period, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your director so that we can partner together during this challenging time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Stay well,
The Private Prep team
