In a year of unprecedented changes in the test prep and college admissions landscape, juniors may feel unsure about what the future holds. While there are many unknowns, juniors have control over when they start preparing for the ACT or SAT. Here are three reasons why now is a great time to start test prep:
- You have the time. By now, students have settled into their school routine, whether that’s virtual, hybrid, or some combination of the two. Adding a weekly test prep lesson can easily fit into any student’s schedules, especially as we match students with tutors who are a great fit.
- The concepts are fresh. The content covered on the ACT and SAT is linked to what students learn in school, including during junior year. Now is a great time to look ahead to take a test while the information is top-of-mind!
- Preparation is key. There are a lot of unknowns for the class of 2022. Many colleges and universities, when first announcing their test optional policies for the 2020-21 application cycle, stated that their policy would last for one year only. Whether they adhere to these statements will likely depend on public health policies and outcomes and, ultimately, the safety and availability of standardized testing. This, of course, is a big question mark! Because of the uncertainty surrounding testing policies for next year, at this time we recommend that students prepare for the examinations in order to ensure that they have the widest possible options when it comes time to apply to college.
