College Admissions Coach 

Private Prep is seeking a part-time Admissions Coach to join our growing, collaborative college admissions counseling team. The Coach will work closely with students and their families to guide them through every step of the college admissions process. Our team is passionate about supporting students holistically, taking stress out of an often anxiety-inducing process, empowering students to discover their passions and voice, and helping them find best-fit colleges at which they will thrive. Admissions Coaches act as mentors and guides, supporting families with all strategic aspects of the college admissions process, as well as editors and thought partners, helping students tell their stories, refine their writing, and reflect on who they are through the application process. 

The Coach will work closely with the Director of Admissions Counseling through initial training and ongoing professional development and growth opportunities, and have access to unique resources and support as a member of the Private Prep community. 

While much of our admissions work is remote, the position requires occasional in-person availability in New York City and Northern and Central New Jersey. In addition, in our busy season (late summer-fall), the position requires some flexibility on evenings and weekends in order to accommodate students’ schedules.

DESIRED SKILLS 

• Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred
• Outstanding writing and communication skills
• 3+ years professional experience 
• College admissions experience highly preferred (admissions office, school counseling, independent consulting)
• Commitment to proactive research in a frequently evolving landscape
• Collaborative spirit
• Passion for education and for supporting the whole student
